Manganese zeolites have been used since the 1950s to remove iron, hydrogen sulfide and other substances from water-based mixtures. The process used for such removal is typically of two types. Namely, continuous regeneration and intermittent regeneration. Continuous regeneration is used for iron removal, while intermittent regeneration is used for manganese removal. Both methods can be combined in use for added removal benefits.
