Definition - What does Manganese Zeolite mean?

Manganese zeolite is a synthetic gel mineral composed of hydrated aluminosilicates of sodium, potassium, calcium and barium. Manganese zeolite is used in conjunction with filtration methods to facilitate the removal of iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide and other substances from water.

Corrosionpedia explains Manganese Zeolite

Manganese zeolites have been used since the 1950s to remove iron, hydrogen sulfide and other substances from water-based mixtures. The process used for such removal is typically of two types. Namely, continuous regeneration and intermittent regeneration. Continuous regeneration is used for iron removal, while intermittent regeneration is used for manganese removal. Both methods can be combined in use for added removal benefits.
